CURRICULUM VITAE Stabor is a professional cartoonist for 30 years. He works for the yugoslav daily "BLIC" under an exclusive contract since its establishment in 1996. He is the only cartoonist in the paper and is bound to publish his drawn political comments 10 times a month. He also works for the weekly "BLIC NEWS"-the magazine of the same house, with the obligation of publishing one colour cartoon in each issue.
The daily paper "BLIC" has the largest print in Serbia & Montenegro (Yugoslavia) and it is one of the three oppositional daily papers which succeeded, by four year struggle under almost impossible conditions (often bans, arresting of its journalists and news boys, fines to editors, refusals to print the paper by Milosevic's printing works etc.) in presenting the true picture of reality to the public, which motivated the citizans to vote against Milosevic's, for the first time in the last 10 years.
Day after day, week after week, Stabor commented on the events which chose, more and more often during the last 4 years, squares and streets of Yugoslav cities for their stage. During the conflict between Milosevic regime and "the whole world" (NATO alliance), Stabor commented daily on the violence of both sides. And, of course, during the NATO campaign it was almost impossible to draw any cartoon unfavourable to Milosevic, because neither it nor the issue in which it had been published would have seen the day-light.
The result of three month efforts and working while air-raid sirens were wailing(countles raids even on the very centre of the city of Belgrade, where Stabor lives and works in his studio) is luxurious, sharply satirical book "I WANT YU". It is also translated into English.
For 14 years, Stabor has been the collaborator with the esteemed Swiss monthly magazine "Nebelspalter", (which had been weekly for years). During that period, he has published over 180 colour cartoons (over a whole page or double) and 6 covers.
One of these days, "Nebelspalter" celebrated its 125th anniversary and Stabor had the honour to have his cartoon on the cover.
Stabor's definition of cartoon(for which he says that it is his "religion") is: ..."CARTOON IS A SATANIC SEDUCER. IT IS DYNAMITE WHICH BLOWS EVERYTHING UP INTO THE AIR AND LAYS DOWN AGAIN!"
Stabor is almost constantly in his studio. He works and reads literature. Seldom makes social contacts. Only in his studio he feels ceremonially and pure as if he has been educated in heaven. At the age of 54 (born 1949. in the sign of Taurus), he thinks that he stil has much to say in and about cartooning. Owing to cartoons, as he says, he lives higher life. Cartoon makes him deeply happy, but wears him out more quickly.
Anyhow, he is committed to it with all his intellect, finding in it the only meaning in permanency.
Stabor won over 80 world important prizes for his work.
